"According to the 'Prooemium interpretis' of John of Capua, one translation was made on the request of the head physician to Pope Bonifatius VIII (1294-1303). A characteristically altered recension forms the basis of the 'Editio princeps' of c. 1481" [Hasselhoff (2002), 10]. Es gibt eine zweite Übersetzung: "This translation exists only in the severely damaged codex in Turin, Biblioteca Nazionale di Torino, Ms. I. III. 35, f. 81ra-88ra. [...]. We cannot give proof for Sarton´s assertion that Armengaud is responsible for this translation" [Hasselhoff (2001), 276, Anm. 129]. |
